Workforce Retention in Radiology: The Role of Inclusion;  Anand Narayan, MD, PhD

View Handout

Presentation Summary:

Radiology departments currently face critical workforce shortages in radiologists, radiology technicians,

staff, and advanced practice providers. In the context of critical workforce shortages, the costs of

employee turnover have emphasized the need for radiology leaders to develop leadership behaviors that

promote the recruitment and retention of faculty and staff members. Inclusive workplaces are associated

with improved job satisfaction, reduced turnover, and increased organizational commitment. This lecture

is focused on providing attendees with discrete tools and resources to pro-actively foster inclusive

workplace environments.

Learning Objectives:

By the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Understand the impact that exclusionary behaviors have in the workplace.
  2. Implement strategies to pro-actively promote inclusive workplace environments.
  3. Recognize the subtle and covert ways that exclusionary behaviors are conveyed through speech and behavior.

Selection of Locoregional Therapies in Hepatocellular Carcinoma; Evan Liang, MD

View Handout

Among these options are catheter-directed ablations, chemoembolization, radioembolization, and external beam radiation therapy. We will review the existing medical literature supporting each approach and highlight clinical situations in which each one may be relatively more favored.

Learning Objectives:

By the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Understand the mechanisms of how ablation, arterial embolizations, and external beam radiation are delivered.
  2. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
  3. Identify clinical scenarios for which different therapies may be appropriate.

Leadership in Cybersecurity; Po-Hao Chen, MD, MBA

This presentation delves into the stages of recovering from a ransomware attack from the perspective of a radiology practice, outlining essential strategies for pre-attack readiness, operational continuity during downtime, and data recovery. It emphasizes the importance of leadership in operational preparedness, including effective communication and best practices in extended downtime procedure planning.

Learning Objectives:
By the conclusion of this session, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the natural progression of recovering from a ransomware attack in a radiology department.
  2. Develop effective strategies for cyber attack preparedness and post-attack recovery.
  3. Implement best practices for IT security and patient data protection in radiology operations
