The Joint Finance Committee will begin voting on the Governor's state budget on Thursday, May 8. One of their first votes will be on a motion to remove over 600 items from budget consideration.

Here is where things stand on WRS budget items of interest, and a full WRS budget chart is attached. Just because an item is still in play does not mean it will be in the final budget, it simply remains under consideration.

On list of items to be REMOVED from budget consideration

  • Medicaid Expansion
  • Health Care Provider Innovation Grants
  • Requirements for Hospital Emergency Rooms to have at least one EM physician on staff at all times
  • Package of reforms aimed at insurance industry (claims denial standards; prior auth reform; network adequacy standards)
  • Surprise Billing/Out-of-Network billing language
  • Statewide Clinician Wellness Program
  • APRN independent practice (however, a standalone bill is being introduced)
  • Physician Title Protection

Still in Play (for now)

  • DSPS Call Center Staff increase
